  1. 1. Roughly chop the chocolate.
  2. 2. Melt 150 grams of the chocolate over a bowl of hot water (bain-marie).
  3. 3. Beat the butter until creamy and fluffy.
  4. 4. Separate the eggs. Carefully lift the yolks away from the whites.
  5. 5. Stir the egg yolks into the melted chocolate little by little.
  6. 6. Stir the chocolate-yolk mixture into the butter.
  7. 7. Whip the egg whites with the sugar until stiff peaks form.
  8. 8. Gently fold the egg whites into the chocolate batter.
  9. 9. Mix the flour with the almonds and the remaining chocolate.
  10. 10. Gently fold the flour mixture into the batter as well.
  11. 11. Fill the batter into the jars.
  12. 12. Preheat the oven to 160 degrees Celsius (140 degrees Celsius with fan or gas mark 2).
  13. 13. Bake the cakes for about 40 minutes.
  14. 14. Take the jars out of the oven.
  15. 15. Place the lids on the jars.
  16. 16. Let the cakes cool down completely inside the jars.
