🥤 Moist Chocolate Walnut Brownies

Ingredients
- 180 g pitted dates
- 30 ml water
- 6 tbsp salted butter
- 210 g chopped dark chocolate
- 2 eggs (L)
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- 2 tbsp spelt wholemeal flour
- 130 g California walnut kernels (coarsely chopped)
- 2 tbsp powdered sugar
Instructions
- 1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Use gas mark 2 or fan-assisted 160 degrees Celsius.
- 2. Lightly grease a rectangular baking pan measuring 23 cm.
- 3. Line the greased pan with baking paper.
- 4. Place the dates and water into a blender.
- 5. Blend the mixture until it forms a smooth paste.
- 6. Set the date paste aside.
- 7. Heat the butter and chocolate in a large pan.
- 8. Stir constantly until everything has melted.
- 9. Remove the pan from the heat source.
- 10. Allow the chocolate mixture to cool down slightly.
- 11. Stir the date paste into the chocolate.
- 12. Add the eggs one by one.
- 13. Thoroughly mix in each egg before adding the next one.
- 14. Place the cocoa powder and flour into a separate bowl.
- 15. Sift the dry ingredients into the chocolate mixture.
- 16. Mix everything together with a wooden spoon.
- 17. Ensure the batter is smooth.
- 18. Add the walnuts to the batter.
- 19. Gently fold the walnuts into the batter.
- 20. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan.
- 21. Bake the brownies for 20 to 25 minutes.
- 22. Check the center: it should be firm.
- 23. Remove the brownies from the oven.
- 24. Let them cool down completely.
- 25. Get some powdered sugar and a stencil ready.
- 26. Sift the powdered sugar through the stencil over the brownies.
- 27. Choose a Christmas-themed design for the decoration.
