  1. 1. Wash the pears thoroughly and dry them.
  2. 2. Cut the pears into wedges and remove the core.
  3. 3. Rinse the lemon under hot water and pat it dry.
  4. 4. Peel off the thin zest of the lemon.
  5. 5. Squeeze the juice from the lemon.
  6. 6. Mix the lemon juice with the pear wedges.
  7. 7. Break the cinnamon sticks into small pieces.
  8. 8. Rinse the jars with hot water.
  9. 9. Fill the prepared jars with the pears, cinnamon pieces, star anise, rock sugar, and lemon zest.
  10. 10. Pour rum over the ingredients until everything is completely covered.
  11. 11. Seal the jars tightly.
  12. 12. Let the jars steep for about 6 weeks in a cool and dark place.
