  1. 1. Beat the butter and sugar with the electric hand mixer until the mixture is airy and foamy.
  2. 2. Add the eggs and a pinch of salt to the butter mixture and mix everything well.
  3. 3. Mix the flour with the baking powder in a separate bowl.
  4. 4. Stir the flour mixture and the milk alternately into the butter mixture until a smooth batter forms.
  5. 5. If the batter seems too thick, stir in a little more milk gradually until it is smooth.
  6. 6. Peel the apple, cut it in half, and remove the core.
  7. 7. Slice the apple flesh into very thin slices.
  8. 8. Heat the jam in a small saucepan together with three tablespoons of water until it becomes more liquid.
  9. 9. Grease the springform pan thoroughly with butter.
  10. 10. Place four to five tablespoons of the liquid jam in the center of the pan.
  11. 11. Put half of the batter into the pan and spread it smooth.
  12. 12. Distribute the apple slices evenly over the batter.
  13. 13. Add the remaining batter over the apples and spread it smooth.
  14. 14. Distribute the remaining four to five tablespoons of jam over the surface of the cake.
  15. 15. Preheat the oven to 160 degrees Celsius fan-forced.
  16. 16. Place the pan in the preheated oven.
  17. 17. Bake the cake for 40 minutes until it is golden brown.
  18. 18. Perform the skewer test by inserting a wooden skewer into the center; it must come out clean.
  19. 19. Carefully loosen the cake from the pan wall immediately.
  20. 20. Turn the cake out onto a plate and let it cool completely.
