🍽️ Red Wine Shallots with Plums

Ingredients
- 300 g elongated shallots
- 20 g butter (1 tbsp)
- 150 ml dry red wine
- 3 tbsp red port wine
- 0.5 tsp ground cloves
- 0.5 tsp cinnamon (or 1 cinnamon stick)
- 1 bay leaf
- salt
- pepper
- 4 dried plums
Instructions
- 1. Peel the shallots, but leave the root end intact.
- 2. Cut the shallots in half lengthwise.
- 3. Heat the butter in a pot.
- 4. Sauté the shallots until they become translucent.
- 5. Pour in the red wine and the port wine.
- 6. Bring the mixture to a boil.
- 7. Add the cloves, the cinnamon stick, and the bay leaf to the pot.
- 8. Season the shallots with salt and pepper.
- 9. Reduce the heat to low.
- 10. Cook the shallots covered for about 40 minutes.
- 11. In the meantime, dice the dried plums.
- 12. After 30 minutes of cooking, stir the plum cubes into the shallots.
- 13. Serve the red wine shallots hot or at room temperature.
