  2. 2. Rinse the lentils under cold water.
  3. 3. Repeat rinsing until the water runs clear.
  4. 4. Pour boiling water over the tomatoes.
  5. 5. Peel off the skin from the tomatoes.
  6. 6. Halve the tomatoes.
  7. 7. Remove the core from the tomatoes.
  8. 8. Dice the flesh of the tomatoes into small cubes.
  9. 9. Peel the onion.
  10. 10. Slice the onion into thin half-rings.
  11. 11. Peel the ginger.
  12. 12. Grate the ginger finely.
  13. 13. Put the washed lentils into a pot.
  14. 14. Pour the vegetable broth into the pot.
  15. 15. Add the diced tomatoes to the pot.
  16. 16. Add the grated ginger to the pot.
  17. 17. Add the turmeric to the pot.
  18. 18. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  19. 19. Reduce the heat.
  20. 20. Let the soup simmer on low heat for about 30 minutes.
