🍰 Red Fruit Grütze

Ingredients
- 750 g mixed berries (e.g. strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and redcurrants)
- 250 g cherries
- 0.5 lemon (juice)
- 50 g sugar
- 400 ml redcurrant juice
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp cassis liqueur
Instructions
- 1. Wash all the berries thoroughly.
- 2. Remove any stems or hard pits.
- 3. Let the berries drain well in a sieve.
- 4. Cut the strawberries into halves or quarters, depending on their size.
- 5. Carefully pit the cherries.
- 6. Place the prepared berries in a bowl and set aside.
- 7. Pour the lemon juice, sugar, and red currant juice into a saucepan.
- 8. Heat the mixture until it begins to boil.
- 9. Stir the cornstarch with the cassis liqueur in a small bowl until smooth and lump-free.
- 10. Pour the starch mixture into the boiling fruit sauce while stirring constantly.
- 11. Let the sauce simmer gently for a few minutes while stirring until it thickens.
- 12. Remove the saucepan from the heat.
- 13. Gently fold the prepared berries into the warm sauce.
- 14. Fill the red fruit grütze into individual glasses or bowls.
- 15. Let the desserts cool down at room temperature.
- 16. Serve the red fruit grütze classically with vanilla ice cream or vanilla sauce.
