🍽️ Crispy Brussels Sprouts with Walnuts and Oranges

Ingredients
- 1 kg Brussels sprouts
- salt
- 2 oranges
- 75 g walnut kernels
- 2 tbsp butter
- pepper (from the mill)
Instructions
- 1. Thoroughly wash the Brussels sprouts under running water.
- 2. Remove any wilted outer leaves and the tough base of the stem.
- 3. Cut a small cross into the bottom part of the stem.
- 4. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil.
- 5. Add the Brussels sprouts to the boiling water.
- 6. Cook them for about 12 minutes until they are tender but still firm to the bite.
- 7. Peel the oranges and remove the white pith.
- 8. Carefully cut the orange segments out of the membranes.
- 9. Catch the released juice in a bowl.
- 10. Squeeze the remaining orange peels to extract the last drops of juice.
- 11. Chop the walnut kernels into coarse pieces.
- 12. Melt butter in a frying pan over medium heat.
- 13. Fry the walnuts briefly in the hot butter.
- 14. Add the drained Brussels sprouts to the pan.
- 15. Deglaze the dish with the collected orange juice.
- 16. Let everything simmer gently for 4 to 5 minutes.
- 17. Add the orange segments to the vegetables.
- 18. Season the dish finally with salt and pepper.
- 19. Serve the vegetables warm.
