  1. 1. Place a handful of edible fragrant rose petals into a pot.
  2. 2. Pour boiling water over the petals.
  3. 3. Let the mixture steep under a lid for 15 minutes.
  4. 4. Strain the liquid through a sieve and gently press the petals.
  5. 5. Combine the strained rose liquid with the specified amount of sugar in a clean pot.
  6. 6. Bring the mixture to a boil and let it simmer for 1 minute.
  7. 7. Pour the hot rose syrup into a clean bottle.
  8. 8. Let the syrup cool and store it in the refrigerator (shelf life: a few months).
  9. 9. Gently rinse the fresh rose petals under running water.
  10. 10. Let the petals drain well in a sieve.
  11. 11. Place the drained petals into a large bowl or pitcher.
  12. 12. Add the wine, the homemade rose syrup, and the sugar.
  13. 13. Add the scraped seeds from one vanilla pod.
  14. 14. Season the mixture with a pinch of cinnamon and the orange juice.
  15. 15. Stir everything well until the sugar has dissolved.
  16. 16. Cover the bowl and let the punch base steep in a cool place for 4 to 6 hours.
  17. 17. Pour the finished punch base into a large punch bowl.
  18. 18. Mix the base with chilled sparkling wine and mineral water to taste.
  19. 19. Garnish the punch with fresh rose petals.
