🍽️ Crispy Rye Bread Sandwiches with Caramelized Pears and Melted Cheese

Ingredients
- 2 red onions
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp honey
- 3 tbsp balsamic vinegar
- salt
- pepper
- 1 pear
- 100 g blue cheese (50% fat in dry matter)
- 4 large slices rye sourdough bread (240 g)
Instructions
- 1. Peel the onions and cut them into thin strips.
- 2. Heat one tablespoon of oil in a pan.
- 3. Add the onion strips and the honey to the hot pan.
- 4. Sauté the mixture over medium heat for 8 to 10 minutes until soft and caramelized.
- 5. Deglaze the pan with vinegar.
- 6. Let the liquid reduce over low heat for 3 to 4 minutes.
- 7. Season the onion mixture with salt and pepper to taste.
- 8. Wash the pear and cut it into wedges.
- 9. Core the pear wedges.
- 10. Grill the pear wedges in a hot grill pan for 4 minutes over medium heat.
- 11. Slice the cheese into thin pieces.
- 12. Top two slices of bread with the grilled pear wedges, the caramelized onions, and the cheese slices.
- 13. Cover the topped bread slices with the remaining bread slices to form sandwiches.
- 14. Heat the remaining oil in a hot grill pan.
- 15. Place the sandwiches in the hot pan.
- 16. Fry the sandwiches for 3 to 4 minutes per side over medium heat until the cheese is melted.
- 17. Cut the finished sandwiches diagonally in half.
- 18. Serve the sandwiches immediately while warm.
