🍽️ Asian-style Romaine Salad with Crispy Noodles and Tuna

Ingredients
- 1 clove garlic
- 1 lime
- 200 g silken tofu
- 2 tsp wasabi paste
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- salt
- pepper
- 200 ml oil (for frying)
- 50 g rice vermicelli noodles
- 1 tbsp black sesame seeds
- 2 romaine lettuce hearts
- 280 g tuna steak (2 tuna steaks)
Instructions
- 1. Peel the garlic clove and chop it into coarse cubes.
- 2. Cut the lime in half and squeeze out the juice.
- 3. Place the silken tofu, the chopped garlic, two tablespoons of lime juice, wasabi paste, and sesame oil into a tall container or a mixing cup.
- 4. Blend the ingredients with a hand blender until the sauce is smooth.
- 5. Season the sauce to taste with salt and pepper.
- 6. Heat the oil in a deep pot or a deep fryer to approximately 180 degrees Celsius.
- 7. Check the oil temperature by holding the end of a wooden spoon into the hot oil.
- 8. If small bubbles form around the wooden handle, the temperature is correct.
- 9. Separate the rice noodles and fry them in batches in the hot oil.
- 10. Remove the noodles as soon as they turn whitish and crispy.
- 11. Lift the noodles out of the oil with a slotted spoon and let them drain on kitchen paper.
- 12. Season the crispy noodles lightly with salt.
- 13. Lightly toast the sesame seeds in a pan without adding extra fat.
- 14. Remove the sesame seeds from the pan and let them cool down.
- 15. Clean the romaine lettuce hearts, wash them thoroughly, and dry them in a salad spinner.
- 16. Cut the lettuce into bite-sized pieces or tear it into small pieces by hand.
- 17. Rinse the tuna steaks under running water and pat them dry with paper towels.
- 18. Season the tuna steaks with salt and pepper.
- 19. Brush a grill pan thinly with the remaining oil and heat it up.
- 20. Fry the tuna steaks for about one to two minutes on each side.
- 21. Toss the prepared salad with the lime sauce.
- 22. Divide the salad among the plates.
- 23. Slice the fried tuna.
- 24. Place the tuna slices on top of the salad.
- 25. Place the crispy rice noodles on the plate.
- 26. Sprinkle the dish with the toasted sesame seeds and serve immediately.
