  1. 1. Rinse the rhubarb under running water.
  2. 2. Cut off the tough ends from the stalk.
  3. 3. Cut the rhubarb into small cubes.
  4. 4. Put the sugar and vanilla sugar into a pot.
  5. 5. Pour in about 800 milliliters of water.
  6. 6. Heat the liquid until the sugar has completely dissolved.
  7. 7. Add the rhubarb cubes to the pot.
  8. 8. Let the soup simmer on low heat for about 10 minutes.
  9. 9. Check if the rhubarb is soft.
  10. 10. Roughly mash the vegetable with a fork.
  11. 11. Alternatively, you can use a potato masher.
  12. 12. Stir the starch into a small amount of cold water.
  13. 13. Make sure no lumps remain.
  14. 14. Stir the starch mixture into the soup.
  15. 15. Bring the soup to a brief boil.
