  5. 5. Peel the onions and slice them into thin rings.
  6. 6. Heat the butter and oil in a pan over medium heat.
  7. 7. Add the onion rings to the pan.
  8. 8. Fry the onions slowly until golden brown, stirring occasionally.
  9. 9. Stir in the allspice and curry powder with the onions.
  10. 10. Add the drained rice and lentils to the pan.
