🍽️ Sweet Rice Parcels in Banana Leaves

Ingredients
- 500 g Glutinous rice
- 20 fresh Reed or Banana leaves
- 20 fresh Dates
Instructions
- 1. Rinse the sticky rice in a sieve under warm water.
- 2. Let the rice soak in water for about 30 minutes.
- 3. Bring 2 liters of water to a boil in a pot.
- 4. Put the leaves into the boiling water for 1 minute (this is called blanching, i.e., short cooking in hot water).
- 5. Remove the leaves and let them cool in ice water.
- 6. Soak the dates in cold water for about 15 minutes.
- 7. Place two leaves side by side.
- 8. Roll the leaves together so they look like small bags or funnels.
- 9. Fill each funnel with 50 grams of sticky rice.
- 10. Add two dates to each funnel.
- 11. Fold the top ends of the leaves inward.
- 12. Wrap the funnels with raffia to close them.
- 13. Bring 1.5 liters of water to a boil in a pot.
- 14. Place the parcels in the water over low heat.
- 15. Let the parcels cook for 40 minutes.
