🍽️ Classic Rice with Peas

Ingredients
- 200 g long-grain rice
- 150 g frozen peas
- 150 g cooked ham
- 1 onion
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 1 bunch parsley
- salt
- pepper (from the mill)
- 3 tbsp vegetable oil
Instructions
- 1. Rinse the rice in a sieve under running water until the water runs clear.
- 2. Place the rinsed rice into a pot.
- 3. Add about twice as much lightly salted water to the rice.
- 4. Bring the water to a boil.
- 5. Cover the pot with a lid.
- 6. Let the rice cook on very low heat for about 20 minutes.
- 7. Remove the pot from the heat.
- 8. Let the rice cool down in the pot.
- 9. Thaw the peas.
- 10. Cut the ham into small cubes.
- 11. Wash the parsley under running water.
- 12. Shake the parsley dry.
- 13. Finely chop the parsley leaves.
- 14. Peel the onion.
- 15. Dice the onion finely.
- 16. Heat some oil in a pan.
- 17. Sauté the onion cubes in the hot oil until they are translucent.
- 18. Add the thawed peas and the ham cubes to the onion.
- 19. Fry the mixture for 2 to 3 minutes.
- 20. Add the cooled rice to the pan.
- 21. Fry the rice while stirring constantly for another 3 minutes.
- 22. Stir in turmeric and the chopped parsley.
- 23. Season the dish to taste with salt and pepper.
- 24. Serve the dish warm.
