  1. 1. Rinse the rice in a sieve under running water until the water runs clear.
  2. 2. Place the rinsed rice into a pot.
  3. 3. Add about twice as much lightly salted water to the rice.
  4. 4. Bring the water to a boil.
  5. 5. Cover the pot with a lid.
  6. 6. Let the rice cook on very low heat for about 20 minutes.
  7. 7. Remove the pot from the heat.
  8. 8. Let the rice cool down in the pot.
  9. 9. Thaw the peas.
  10. 10. Cut the ham into small cubes.
  11. 11. Wash the parsley under running water.
  12. 12. Shake the parsley dry.
  13. 13. Finely chop the parsley leaves.
  14. 14. Peel the onion.
  15. 15. Dice the onion finely.
  16. 16. Heat some oil in a pan.
  17. 17. Sauté the onion cubes in the hot oil until they are translucent.
  18. 18. Add the thawed peas and the ham cubes to the onion.
  19. 19. Fry the mixture for 2 to 3 minutes.
  20. 20. Add the cooled rice to the pan.
  21. 21. Fry the rice while stirring constantly for another 3 minutes.
  22. 22. Stir in turmeric and the chopped parsley.
  23. 23. Season the dish to taste with salt and pepper.
  24. 24. Serve the dish warm.
