  1. 1. Cut the bread into four equal pieces.
  2. 2. Cut each bread piece horizontally once, so you have a bottom and a top half for each.
  3. 3. Spread a generous amount of cream cheese onto the bottom half of each bread piece.
  4. 4. Season the cream cheese layer with a pinch of salt and freshly ground pepper.
  5. 5. Wash the tomatoes thoroughly under running water.
  6. 6. Slice the washed tomatoes into thin rounds.
  7. 7. Gently wash the basil leaves.
  8. 8. Pat the basil leaves dry with a kitchen towel.
  9. 9. Place the tomato slices evenly on top of the cream cheese layer.
  10. 10. Distribute the dry basil leaves over the tomato slices.
  11. 11. Place the smoked salmon as the top layer on the vegetables.
  12. 12. Add a little more freshly ground pepper over the salmon.
  13. 13. Cover the filled bread halves with the corresponding top bread halves.
