  1. 1. Wash the salads thoroughly under running water.
  2. 2. Spin the salad dry, for example in a salad spinner.
  3. 3. Wash the dill under running water.
  4. 4. Shake the dill dry to remove excess water.
  5. 5. Finely chop the dill.
  6. 6. Rinse the smoked salmon under running water.
  7. 7. Pat the smoked salmon dry with a kitchen towel.
  8. 8. Slice the smoked salmon into thin slices.
  9. 9. Peel the onion.
  10. 10. Cut the onion into very fine cubes.
  11. 11. Heat the oil in a pan.
  12. 12. Add the onion cubes to the hot pan.
  13. 13. Sauté the onions over medium heat for 2 minutes.
  14. 14. Add the mustard seeds to the pan.
  15. 15. Add the capers to the pan.
  16. 16. Add the vinegar to the pan.
  17. 17. Simmer the mixture over medium heat for approx. 4 minutes.
  18. 18. Remove the pan from the heat.
  19. 19. Stir the chopped dill into the onion mixture.
  20. 20. Season the mixture with salt.
  21. 21. Season the mixture with pepper.
  22. 22. Spread the bread thinly with butter.
  23. 23. Place the salad on the bread.
  24. 24. Place the smoked salmon slices on the salad.
  25. 25. Add the onion-dill mixture on top of the salmon.
  26. 26. Serve the dish immediately.
