Ingredients
- 500 g Sauerkraut (can)
- 3 onions
- 3 tbsp oil
- 1 large apple
- salt
- pepper from the mill
- 12 Nuremberg roast sausages
- 300 g Butterkäse (sliced, with caraway)
Instructions
- 1. Drain the sauerkraut in a colander. Loosen it up slightly with your fingers afterwards.
- 2. Peel the onions. Cut them in half lengthwise and then slice the halves into half-rings.
- 3. Heat two and a half tablespoons of oil in a pan. Add the onions and sauté them for three minutes until they look translucent.
- 4. Wash the apple. Cut it into quarters and remove the core.
- 5. Slice the apple pieces into rounds about half a centimeter thick.
- 6. Add the apple slices to the onions in the pan. Sauté everything together for another three minutes.
- 7. Remove the pan from the heat. Stir the drained sauerkraut into the onion-apple mixture.
- 8. Bring the mixture to a brief boil. Season it with salt and pepper to taste.
- 9. Set the pan aside until you need it later.
- 10. Cut the cheese into pieces that fit perfectly into your raclette pans.
- 11. Heat the remaining oil in a separate pan. Brown the sausages in it.
- 12. Divide the seasoned sauerkraut mixture evenly among the individual raclette pans.
- 13. Cut the fried sausages in half lengthwise.
- 14. Place the sausage halves on top of the sauerkraut in the pans.
- 15. Distribute the cheese pieces evenly over the sauerkraut and sausages.
- 16. Place the filled pans into the preheated raclette grill. Bake for eight to ten minutes until the cheese is melted.
