Instructions

  1. 1. Drain the sauerkraut in a colander. Loosen it up slightly with your fingers afterwards.
  2. 2. Peel the onions. Cut them in half lengthwise and then slice the halves into half-rings.
  3. 3. Heat two and a half tablespoons of oil in a pan. Add the onions and sauté them for three minutes until they look translucent.
  4. 4. Wash the apple. Cut it into quarters and remove the core.
  5. 5. Slice the apple pieces into rounds about half a centimeter thick.
  6. 6. Add the apple slices to the onions in the pan. Sauté everything together for another three minutes.
  7. 7. Remove the pan from the heat. Stir the drained sauerkraut into the onion-apple mixture.
  8. 8. Bring the mixture to a brief boil. Season it with salt and pepper to taste.
  9. 9. Set the pan aside until you need it later.
  10. 10. Cut the cheese into pieces that fit perfectly into your raclette pans.
  11. 11. Heat the remaining oil in a separate pan. Brown the sausages in it.
  12. 12. Divide the seasoned sauerkraut mixture evenly among the individual raclette pans.
  13. 13. Cut the fried sausages in half lengthwise.
  14. 14. Place the sausage halves on top of the sauerkraut in the pans.
  15. 15. Distribute the cheese pieces evenly over the sauerkraut and sausages.
  16. 16. Place the filled pans into the preheated raclette grill. Bake for eight to ten minutes until the cheese is melted.
