Ingredients
- 1.5 kg quinces
- 0.5 kg apples
- 1 kg jam sugar (2:1)
- crystal sugar
Instructions
- 1. Turn on the oven and set it to 160 degrees Celsius with top and bottom heat.
- 2. Cut the quinces and apples into quarters and remove the seeds.
- 3. Place the fruit on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
- 4. Bake the fruit in the preheated oven for 1 hour.
- 5. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the fruit cool down.
- 6. Peel the cooled apples and quinces.
- 7. Remove any remaining core parts from the fruit.
- 8. Cut the fruit into small pieces.
- 9. Puree the fruit pieces into a smooth mash.
- 10. Mix the puree with the jam sugar.
- 11. Heat the mixture in a pot.
- 12. Let the mixture simmer for 5 minutes.
- 13. Line a new baking sheet with baking paper.
- 14. Spread the fruit mixture evenly 1 cm thick onto the sheet.
- 15. Let the mixture dry for 2 to 3 days.
- 16. Cut the dried quince bread into bite-sized diamonds.
- 17. Toss the pieces in caster sugar.
- 18. Store the quince bread in an airtight container.
