  1. 1. Wash the potatoes thoroughly under running water.
  2. 2. Peel the potatoes completely.
  3. 3. Cut the potatoes into sticks approximately 1 cm thick.
  4. 4. Place the potato sticks immediately into a large bowl.
  5. 5. Add the oil and turmeric to the bowl.
  6. 6. Mix everything well until the potatoes are evenly coated.
  7. 7. Line a baking tray with baking paper.
  8. 8. Spread the potato sticks out flat on the tray.
  9. 9. Preheat the oven to 200 °C (180 °C with fan or gas mark 3).
  10. 10. Place the tray on the second rack from the bottom.
  11. 11. Bake the fries for about 35 minutes.
  12. 12. Turn the potatoes twice during the baking time.
  13. 13. Put the sesame seeds into a dry frying pan.
  14. 14. Toast the sesame seeds without adding extra fat.
  15. 15. Place the toasted sesame seeds into a mortar.
  16. 16. Add a little salt.
  17. 17. Coarsely grind the mixture using the pestle.
  18. 18. Take the finished fries out of the oven.
  19. 19. Sprinkle the sesame salt evenly over them.
  20. 20. Serve the fries immediately while hot.
