  1. 1. Peel the onions and cut them in half. Cut the onion halves into coarse cubes.
  2. 2. Wash the peppers and cut them in half. Remove the seeds and the white inner membrane. Cut the peppers into cubes.
  3. 3. Wash the tomatoes and remove the hard stem at the top. Cut the tomatoes in half and dice them.
  4. 4. Peel the garlic cloves and chop them finely.
  5. 5. Heat the ghee in a large pot. Brown the meat in batches on all sides until it is brown. Remove the meat from the pot and set it aside.
  6. 6. Add the onions and peppers to the hot fat. Sauté the vegetables briefly.
  7. 7. Pour the broth over the vegetables and meat. Cover the pot.
  8. 8. Simmer the pörkölt on medium heat for about 40 minutes.
  9. 9. Remove the lid from the pot. Increase the heat to reduce the liquid by half.
  10. 10. Add the diced tomatoes to the pot. Continue to cook the sauce until it thickens.
  11. 11. Season the dish with paprika powder, salt, and pepper to taste.
  12. 12. Serve the pörkölt hot with potatoes.
