  1. 1. Clean the mushrooms thoroughly. Use a brush or kitchen paper to remove any dirt.
  2. 2. Slice the mushrooms into very thin pieces.
  3. 3. Put the tomato paste and oregano into a small bowl.
  4. 4. Squeeze the juice from half of the orange.
  5. 5. Measure exactly one tablespoon of the orange juice.
  6. 6. Add the measured orange juice to the tomato paste.
  7. 7. Stir the mixture until smooth and well combined.
  8. 8. Season the sauce lightly with salt and pepper.
  9. 9. Spread the sauce evenly over the toast bread slices.
  10. 10. Place the mushroom slices on top of the sauced toast slices.
  11. 11. Cut the ham into thin strips.
  12. 12. Wash the basil under running water.
  13. 13. Shake the basil dry.
  14. 14. Pluck the basil leaves from the stems.
  15. 15. Cut the basil leaves into fine strips as well.
  16. 16. Line a baking sheet with baking paper.
  17. 17. Place the prepared toast slices on the baking sheet.
  18. 18. Distribute the ham strips evenly over the toast slices.
  19. 19. Sprinkle the basil strips over the top.
  20. 20. Cover everything generously with cheese.
  21. 21. Preheat the oven to 180 °C (160 °C with fan or gas level 2-3).
  22. 22. Put the pizza toast into the preheated oven.
  23. 23. Bake the toast for 8 to 10 minutes until golden brown.
