Ingredients
- 500 g pickling cucumber
- 4 carrots
- 200 g pearl onion
- 2 garlic cloves
- 400 ml white wine vinegar
- 2 tbsp mustard powder
- 100 g brown sugar
- sea salt
Instructions
- 1. Wash the cucumbers thoroughly.
- 2. Cut the cucumbers in half lengthwise and slice them thinly.
- 3. Peel the carrots.
- 4. Cut the carrots in half lengthwise and slice them as well.
- 5. Peel the onions and the garlic.
- 6. Cut the onions in half.
- 7. Slice the garlic.
- 8. Place all the prepared vegetables and spices into a large pot.
- 9. Mix the vinegar with 200 milliliters of water, mustard powder, and sugar.
- 10. Bring the liquid mixture in the pot to a boil.
- 11. Let the vegetable mixture simmer for about 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 12. Continue simmering until the mixture becomes slightly thick and creamy.
- 13. Season the relish with salt to taste.
- 14. Immediately fill the hot vegetable mixture into prepared clean jars.
- 15. Seal the jars immediately.
- 16. Let the jars cool down completely at room temperature.
