🍽️ Spicy Filled Croissants

Ingredients
- 500 g Flour
- 0.5 Cube Yeast (21 g)
- 250 ml lukewarm Milk
- 100 g Butter
- 0.5 tsp Salt
- 125 g Gruyère cheese (diced)
- 0.5 red bell pepper
- 2 egg yolks
- Butter (for the baking sheet)
Instructions
- 1. Pour some milk into a small bowl.
- 2. Stir the yeast into the milk until it is smooth and fully dissolved.
- 3. Put the flour into a large mixing bowl.
- 4. Cut the butter into small cubes.
- 5. Add the butter cubes and the salt to the flour.
- 6. Mix the dry ingredients and the butter together briefly.
- 7. Add the dissolved yeast mixture and the remaining milk.
- 8. Knead everything with the dough hooks of the mixer until you have a smooth dough.
- 9. Cover the bowl.
- 10. Let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
- 11. Preheat the oven to 40 degrees Celsius to create a warm environment.
- 12. Wash the peppers thoroughly.
- 13. Remove the stem and seeds from the peppers.
- 14. Cut the peppers into small cubes.
- 15. Take the dough out of the bowl.
- 16. Knead the dough once more briefly.
- 17. Roll out the dough flat.
- 18. Cut triangles from the dough with a side length of about 12 centimeters.
- 19. Sprinkle each triangle with cheese.
- 20. Distribute the pepper cubes over the cheese.
- 21. Roll the triangles up starting from the wide side.
- 22. Shape the rolls into croissants.
- 23. Whisk the egg yolk in a small bowl.
- 24. Brush the croissants with the whisked egg yolk.
- 25. Butter a baking tray.
- 26. Place the croissants on the buttered baking tray.
- 27. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius.
- 28. Bake the croissants for about 25 minutes until golden yellow.
