🍝 Classic Pasta with Fresh Tomato Sauce

Ingredients
- 400 g bow-tie pasta
- 500 g chunky tomatoes (from the can, organic)
- 1 onion (finely chopped)
- 1 clove garlic (peeled)
- 2 tsp sugar
- salt
- pepper (freshly ground)
- nutmeg (freshly grated)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- basil
Instructions
- 1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil and add plenty of salt.
- 2. Add the bow-tie pasta to the boiling water and cook until al dente.
- 3. Heat the oil in a large pan over medium heat.
- 4. Add the chopped onions to the pan and sauté until they are soft and translucent.
- 5. Add the chopped tomatoes and the whole garlic cloves to the onion mixture.
- 6. Let the sauce come to a brief boil.
- 7. Reduce the heat to low, cover the pan, and let the sauce simmer for 5 to 6 minutes.
- 8. Stir the sauce occasionally while it cooks.
- 9. Season the sauce with salt, sugar, pepper, and grated nutmeg.
- 10. Remove the whole garlic cloves from the sauce.
- 11. Drain the cooked pasta.
- 12. Divide the pasta among the plates.
- 13. Spoon 3 to 4 tablespoons of the tomato sauce over the pasta.
- 14. Garnish the dish with fresh basil leaves.
- 15. Serve the pasta immediately while warm.
