  3. 3. Cook the pasta according to the package instructions until al dente.
  4. 4. Peel the bottom third of the asparagus.
  5. 5. Cut off the woody ends of the asparagus.
  6. 6. Cut the asparagus stalks diagonally into 3 to 4 centimeter long pieces.
  7. 7. Peel the onion and the garlic.
  8. 8. Finely dice the onion and the garlic.
  9. 9. Grate the Parmesan cheese.
  10. 10. Heat butter in a large pan.
  11. 11. Add the onion, garlic, and ham to the pan.
  12. 12. Sauté the ingredients briefly.
  13. 13. Add the asparagus to the pan.
  14. 14. Deglaze the dish with wine.
  15. 15. Cover the pan.
  16. 16. Cook the asparagus for 5 to 6 minutes.
  17. 17. Drain the pasta.
  18. 18. Let the pasta drain well.
  19. 19. Add the pasta to the pan with the ham and asparagus mixture.
  20. 20. Toss everything well to mix the pasta.
