🍝 Creamy Pasta with Ham, Asparagus, and Parmesan

Ingredients
- 350 g whole wheat penne
- salt
- 500 g green asparagus
- 1 onion
- 1 clove garlic
- 80 g parmesan (1 piece)
- 1 tsp butter
- 80 g ham cubes (3% fat)
- 100 ml dry white wine (or vegetable broth)
- pepper
- 4 sage leaves
Instructions
- 1. Fill a large pot with water and bring it to a boil.
- 2. Add salt and the pasta to the boiling water.
- 3. Cook the pasta according to the package instructions until al dente.
- 4. Peel the bottom third of the asparagus.
- 5. Cut off the woody ends of the asparagus.
- 6. Cut the asparagus stalks diagonally into 3 to 4 centimeter long pieces.
- 7. Peel the onion and the garlic.
- 8. Finely dice the onion and the garlic.
- 9. Grate the Parmesan cheese.
- 10. Heat butter in a large pan.
- 11. Add the onion, garlic, and ham to the pan.
- 12. Sauté the ingredients briefly.
- 13. Add the asparagus to the pan.
- 14. Deglaze the dish with wine.
- 15. Cover the pan.
- 16. Cook the asparagus for 5 to 6 minutes.
- 17. Drain the pasta.
- 18. Let the pasta drain well.
- 19. Add the pasta to the pan with the ham and asparagus mixture.
- 20. Toss everything well to mix the pasta.
- 21. Add the grated Parmesan, but keep 1 tablespoon aside.
- 22. Mix the cheese well with the pasta.
- 23. Season the dish with salt and pepper to taste.
- 24. Divide the pasta among four plates.
- 25. Sprinkle the remaining Parmesan over the pasta.
- 26. Wash the sage leaves.
- 27. Shake the sage leaves dry.
- 28. Garnish the pasta with the sage leaves.
