🍝 Spaghetti with Homemade Meatballs in Tomato Sauce

Ingredients
- 2 onions
- 2 garlic cloves
- olive oil
- 400 g chunky tomatoes (from can)
- 500 g mixed minced meat
- 2 tbsp breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 100 g green olives (pitted)
- 1 tbsp freshly chopped basil
- salt
- pepper (from mill)
- 1 pinch sugar
- 400 g spaghetti
- basil (for garnishing)
- parmesan (freshly grated)
Instructions
- 1. Peel the onions and the garlic.
- 2. Finely chop the onions and the garlic.
- 3. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a pan.
- 4. Sauté the onions and garlic in the hot oil.
- 5. Remove half of the onion-garlic mixture from the pan and set it aside.
- 6. Add the chopped tomatoes to the remaining half of the onion-garlic mixture.
- 7. Add a little water if necessary.
- 8. Let the sauce simmer uncovered for approx. 20 minutes.
- 9. Take the minced meat.
- 10. Add the set-aside half of the onion-garlic mixture to the minced meat.
- 11. Add the breadcrumbs to the minced meat.
- 12. Add the egg to the minced meat.
- 13. Knead the ingredients for the meatballs well together.
- 14. Season the meatball mixture with salt.
- 15. Season the meatball mixture generously with pepper.
- 16. Check the consistency of the meatball mixture.
- 17. If the mixture is too soft, add more breadcrumbs.
- 18. Moisten your hands.
- 19. Form small balls from the meatball mixture.
- 20. Heat 2-3 tablespoons of olive oil in a separate pan.
- 21. Fry the meatballs on all sides.
- 22. Place the fried meatballs into the tomato sauce.
- 23. Let the meatballs cook through in the sauce for approx. 10 minutes.
- 24. Add the basil to the sauce.
- 25. Add the olives to the sauce.
- 26. Season the sauce with salt.
- 27. Season the sauce with pepper.
- 28. Season the sauce with sugar.
- 29. Bring plenty of water to a boil.
- 30. Salt the cooking water.
- 31. Cook the spaghetti al dente in the boiling salted water.
- 32. Drain the spaghetti.
- 33. Let the spaghetti drain.
- 34. Distribute the spaghetti onto plates.
- 35. Pour the sauce with the meatballs over the spaghetti.
- 36. Sprinkle the dish with basil leaves.
- 37. Sprinkle the dish with Parmesan shavings.
- 38. Serve the dish.
