🍝 Spaghetti with homemade meatballs in tomato sauce

Ingredients
- 500 g spaghetti (1 package)
- 500 g tomatoes (canned tomatoes)
- 1 large onion
- 3 garlic cloves
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- salt
- pepper (from the mill)
- 1 tsp sugar
- freshly grated nutmeg (1 level tsp)
- 400 g ground beef
- 3 shallots
- 0.5 tsp chili peppers
- 2 eggs
- 6 tbsp breadcrumbs
- salt
- pepper (from the mill)
- 2 tbsp chopped parsley
- 6 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- 1. Peel the onion and chop it very finely.
- 2. Peel the garlic clove.
- 3. Heat the oil in a pot.
- 4. Sauté the onion and garlic until translucent.
- 5. Add the tomatoes.
- 6. Cook the sauce at high heat for 10 minutes without a lid, stirring constantly.
- 7. Reduce the heat.
- 8. Season the sauce with sugar, salt, and pepper.
- 9. Set the sauce aside.
- 10. Add grated nutmeg and chopped parsley to the sauce.
- 11. Cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions.
- 12. Drain the pasta.
- 13. Peel the shallots and chop them.
- 14. Mix the minced meat with the shallots, chili pepper, egg, salt, pepper, parsley, and breadcrumbs.
- 15. Add more breadcrumbs if the mixture is too soft.
- 16. Form many small meatballs.
- 17. Fry the meatballs in hot oil on all sides.
- 18. Pat the meatballs dry on kitchen paper to absorb excess fat.
- 19. Serve the spaghetti with the sauce and the meatballs.
- 20. Sprinkle the dish with grated Parmesan cheese.
