  1. 1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil and add some salt.
  2. 2. Add the spaghetti to the boiling water and cook until al dente.
  3. 3. Peel the garlic clove and the onion and chop both finely.
  4. 4. Heat oil in a pot and sauté the garlic and onion over medium heat until translucent.
  5. 5. Add the puréed tomato to the pot and bring the mixture to a boil.
  6. 6. Season the sauce with pepper and then purée it finely.
  7. 7. Wash the cherry tomatoes and place them on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
  8. 8. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees (180 degrees with fan).
  9. 9. Roast the tomatoes in the oven until their skins start to burst.
  10. 10. Wash the basil and shake it dry.
  11. 11. Pluck the basil leaves from the stems and slice them into thin strips.
  12. 12. Drain the cooked pasta.
  13. 13. Mix the pasta with the tomato sauce and half of the sliced basil strips.
  14. 14. Serve the pasta on pre-warmed plates.
  15. 15. Sprinkle the remaining fresh basil over the pasta.
  16. 16. Place the roasted tomatoes on top and serve the dish immediately.
