  1. 1. Wash the peppers thoroughly.
  2. 2. Halve the peppers and remove the insides.
  3. 3. Peel off the skin using a vegetable peeler.
  4. 4. Cut the flesh into small pieces.
  5. 5. Place the pepper pieces into a pot.
  6. 6. Pour in the lemon juice.
  7. 7. Slit the vanilla pod lengthwise and add it to the pot.
  8. 8. Add the sugar.
  9. 9. Stir everything well.
  10. 10. Let the mixture steep for at least 2 hours.
  11. 11. Bring the mixture to a boil while stirring.
  12. 12. Let it bubble and cook for about 5 minutes.
  13. 13. Remove the vanilla pod from the pot.
  14. 14. Puree the pepper finely using a hand blender.
  15. 15. Bring the mixture to a boil one more time briefly.
  16. 16. Fill the hot jam into prepared jars.
  17. 17. Seal the jars immediately.
  18. 18. Let the jars cool down.
