  1. 1. Wash the bell peppers thoroughly.
  2. 2. Halve the bell peppers and remove the insides along with the seeds.
  3. 3. Cut the pepper flesh into thin strips.
  4. 4. Wash the tomatoes.
  5. 5. Quarter the tomatoes.
  6. 6. Remove the hard stem base and seeds from the tomato quarters.
  7. 7. Dice the remaining tomato flesh into small cubes.
  8. 8. Peel the garlic clove and the onion.
  9. 9. Mince the garlic and onion very finely.
  10. 10. Heat the oil in a frying pan.
  11. 11. Add the minced garlic and onion to the hot oil.
  12. 12. Sauté the vegetables gently over medium heat until they soften, but do not brown.
  13. 13. Add the pepper strips and tomato cubes to the pan.
  14. 14. Cover the pan with a lid.
  15. 15. Cook the vegetables over low heat for approx. 10 minutes.
  16. 16. Stir the vegetables occasionally to ensure even cooking.
  17. 17. Season the mixture with salt, a pinch of sugar, and black pepper.
  18. 18. Optionally add a splash of wine vinegar to taste.
  19. 19. Serve the vegetable mix lukewarm or cold.
