  1. 1. Bring plenty of water to a boil with salt.
  2. 2. Cook the pasta in it until al dente.
  3. 3. Take one cup of the pasta water and set it aside.
  4. 4. Drain the pasta and let it drip dry.
  5. 5. Wash the peppers and remove the inside with the seeds.
  6. 6. Cut the peppers into thin strips.
  7. 7. Peel the onion.
  8. 8. Cut the onion into thin wedges.
  9. 9. Heat olive oil in a pan.
  10. 10. Sauté the peppers and onions in it.
  11. 11. Cook the vegetables until al dente.
  12. 12. Deglaze the vegetables with balsamic vinegar.
  13. 13. Season the mixture with salt and pepper.
  14. 14. Mix the pasta with the vegetables.
  15. 15. Add some of the reserved pasta water if needed.
  16. 16. Serve the salad on plates.
  17. 17. Garnish with fresh basil leaves.
