Ingredients
- 0.5 bunch arugula
- 240 g mozzarella balls (8 mozzarella balls)
- 1 egg
- 4 tbsp breadcrumbs
- oil (for frying)
- salt
- pepper (from the mill)
Instructions
- 1. Thoroughly wash the arugula under running water.
- 2. Remove any tough stems or wilted leaves from the arugula.
- 3. Pat the arugula completely dry with a kitchen towel or paper towels.
- 4. Finely chop the dry arugula.
- 5. Season the mozzarella balls with salt and pepper to taste.
- 6. Roll the seasoned mozzarella balls in the finely chopped arugula until they are completely covered on all sides.
- 7. Whisk an egg in a separate bowl until it is evenly beaten.
- 8. Dip the arugula-coated mozzarella balls into the beaten egg.
- 9. Roll the egg-coated balls in breadcrumbs until they are fully covered.
- 10. Heat oil in a frying pan to approximately 180 degrees Celsius.
- 11. Fry the breaded mozzarella balls in the hot oil for about 4 to 6 minutes until golden brown.
- 12. Place the finished balls on paper towels to absorb excess grease.
- 13. Serve the warm mozzarella balls immediately.
- 14. Serve a tomato sauce on the side for dipping, if desired.
