  1. 1. Put sugar, water, and the orange peel into a pot.
  2. 2. Bring the mixture to a brief boil.
  3. 3. Let the liquid cool down.
  4. 4. Strain the liquid through a sieve into a bowl to remove the peel.
  5. 5. Stir the orange juice into the cooled sugar syrup mixture.
  6. 6. Add the lemon juice.
  7. 7. Add the Grand Marnier (orange liqueur).
  8. 8. Whisk the egg whites until they are semi-stiff.
  9. 9. Gently fold the whipped egg whites into the orange mixture using a whisk.
  10. 10. Place the bowl in the freezer compartment of your refrigerator for 3 to 4 hours.
  11. 11. Stir the mixture vigorously with a whisk every 20 minutes.
  12. 12. Serve the finished sorbet garnished with fresh orange zest and small orange pieces.
