Ingredients
- 2 kg untreated oranges
- 60 ml orange liqueur
- 500 g sugar (2:1)
Instructions
- 1. Peel the oranges and remove only the orange-colored zest. Make sure no white pith is included. This should amount to about 50 grams.
- 2. Cut the oranges into segments. Catch the released juice in a bowl while doing so.
- 3. Squeeze the remaining orange peels to extract the last drops of juice. Mix this juice with the segments and the zest.
- 4. Weigh the entire mixture of juice, zest, and segments. It should weigh about 1 kilogram.
- 5. Take half the weight of the mixture in sugar. Stir the sugar into the orange preparation.
- 6. Fill the marmalade into previously sterilized jars. Seal the jars tightly.
- 7. Place the sealed jars into a large pot. Fill the pot with water until the jars are covered.
- 8. Boil the jars in the water bath for about 10 minutes. This ensures shelf stability.
- 9. Carefully remove the jars from the water. Let them cool down completely.
- 10. Decorate the jars as you like with a dried orange slice.
