  2. 2. Drizzle the peeled pears immediately with lime juice to prevent them from browning.
  3. 3. Dissolve the sugar in a small amount of water.
  4. 4. Add the saffron to the sugar solution and let it simmer for 1 to 2 minutes over low heat.
  5. 5. Add the wine, orange juice, and finely grated orange zest to the pan.
  6. 6. Place the pears into the sauce.
  7. 7. Cover the pan and let the pears simmer for about 10 minutes.
  8. 8. Spoon some sauce over the pears occasionally while they cook.
  9. 9. The pears are ready when they are soft but still firm enough not to fall apart.
