🍰 Juicy Pears in Orange-Saffron Sauce

Ingredients
- 2 Limes (juice)
- 400 ml sweet white wine
- 2 Oranges (juice)
- 1 Orange (zest)
- 1 pinch saffron threads
- 12 small ripe pears
- 2 tbsp sugar
Instructions
- 1. Peel the pears, but leave the stems on.
- 2. Drizzle the peeled pears immediately with lime juice to prevent them from browning.
- 3. Dissolve the sugar in a small amount of water.
- 4. Add the saffron to the sugar solution and let it simmer for 1 to 2 minutes over low heat.
- 5. Add the wine, orange juice, and finely grated orange zest to the pan.
- 6. Place the pears into the sauce.
- 7. Cover the pan and let the pears simmer for about 10 minutes.
- 8. Spoon some sauce over the pears occasionally while they cook.
- 9. The pears are ready when they are soft but still firm enough not to fall apart.
- 10. Serve the pears on plates and add the sauce.
