🍽️ Oranges in Syrup

Ingredients
- 1 kg firm oranges
- salt (for rubbing)
- 1 kg sugar
- 1.5 l water
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
Instructions
- 1. Peel the orange skins very thinly.
- 2. Rub the fruits with salt.
- 3. Let them rest for 30 minutes.
- 4. Place the oranges in a bowl.
- 5. Pour boiling water over them.
- 6. Wait until the water has cooled down.
- 7. Remove the oranges.
- 8. Let them drain.
- 9. Rinse them with cold water.
- 10. Place them in fresh water overnight.
- 11. Cut the bottom of the oranges in a cross shape.
- 12. Boil the fruits in plenty of water until the skin is soft.
- 13. Remove the oranges.
- 14. Slice them into rounds.
- 15. Remove the seeds.
- 16. Dissolve the sugar in the water over low heat.
- 17. Add the lemon juice.
- 18. Bring the mixture to a boil once.
- 19. Serve the preserved oranges after the meal as an accompaniment to tea.
