🍽️ Crispy Chicken Drumsticks with Orange and Lemon

Ingredients
- 0.5 bunch Sage leaves
- 4 Chicken drumsticks
- Salt
- Pepper (from the mill)
- 2 tbsp Olive oil
- 2 Oranges
- 1 Lemon
- 400 g Orzo pasta (Greek rice noodles)
- 1 red Bell pepper
- 1 Spring onion
- 1 tbsp Honey
Instructions
- 1. Carefully separate the chicken drumsticks at the joints.
- 2. Rinse the meat pieces under running water.
- 3. Pat the chicken completely dry with a kitchen towel.
- 4. Carefully loosen the skin from the drumsticks.
- 5. Slide some fresh sage leaves under the skin.
- 6. Season the meat evenly with salt and pepper.
- 7. Rinse the oranges and the lemon under hot water.
- 8. Halve the fruits lengthwise.
- 9. Slice the fruit halves into thin rounds.
- 10. Grease a baking dish with some fat.
- 11. Arrange the fruit slices evenly in the dish.
- 12. Sprinkle the fruits with the remaining sage leaves.
- 13. Place the chicken drumsticks on top of the fruits.
- 14. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.
- 15. Bake the chicken in the oven for about 35 minutes.
- 16. Cook the pasta in plenty of boiling salted water.
- 17. Cook the pasta until firm to the bite (al dente).
- 18. Drain the pasta.
- 19. Let the pasta drip dry well.
- 20. Keep the pasta warm.
- 21. Wash the bell peppers and the spring onions.
- 22. Remove the stems from the bell pepper.
- 23. Dice the bell pepper into small pieces.
- 24. Slice the spring onions into thin rings.
- 25. Mix the bell pepper and the spring onions into the pasta.
- 26. Remove the chicken drumsticks from the baking dish.
- 27. Stir the citrus fruits into the pasta mixture.
- 28. Return the pasta to the baking dish.
- 29. Place the chicken drumsticks back on top of the pasta.
- 30. Mix the honey with two tablespoons of hot water.
- 31. Season the honey-sugar glaze generously with salt.
- 32. Brush the chicken drumsticks with the glaze.
- 33. Finish roasting the drumsticks for another 20 minutes.
