  1. 1. Rinse the orange and the grapefruit under hot water.
  2. 2. Dry both fruits with a clean cloth.
  3. 3. Use a vegetable peeler to peel a very thin strip of skin, about 3 cm long, from each fruit.
  4. 4. Cut these peel strips crosswise into fine strips.
  5. 5. Peel the orange and the grapefruit thickly.
  6. 6. Make sure to remove the white pith under the skin as well.
  7. 7. Hold the peeled fruit over a bowl to catch the juice.
  8. 8. Carefully cut out the fruit segments between the membranes.
  9. 9. Cut the date lengthwise into two halves.
  10. 10. Remove the pit if present.
  11. 11. Cut the date flesh into very fine strips.
  12. 12. Place the fruit segments, date strips, and half of the peel strips into a bowl.
  13. 13. Pour the collected juice over them.
  14. 14. Mix everything well.
  15. 15. Let the salad marinate for 10 minutes.
  16. 16. Arrange the salad on a plate.
  17. 17. Sprinkle the remaining peel strips over it.
