  2. 2. Season the egg mixture generously with salt and pepper.
  3. 3. Cut the goat cheese into coarse, bite-sized cubes.
  4. 4. Slice the basil into thin strips, but keep 5 to 6 whole leaves for garnish.
  5. 5. Add the goat cheese cubes and the basil strips to the egg mixture.
  6. 6. Heat the butter in a non-stick pan over medium heat.
  7. 7. Pour the egg and cheese mixture into the hot pan.
  8. 8. Reduce the heat to low and cover the pan with a lid.
  9. 9. Let the omelet set until it is firm but still moist.
  10. 10. Remove the pan from the heat and place the reserved basil leaves on top of the omelet.
  11. 11. Serve the omelet immediately while warm.
