  1. 1. Thoroughly wash the okra pods under running water.
  2. 2. Remove the tough stem ends.
  3. 3. Cut the pods in half crosswise to create bite-sized pieces.
  4. 4. Place the okra pieces in a bowl containing water and lemon juice.
  5. 5. Peel the onions and remove the outer layers.
  6. 6. Slice the onions into thin rings.
  7. 7. Heat the oil in a frying pan.
  8. 8. Fry the onion rings vigorously until they are brown.
  9. 9. Take the okra pods out of the water and let them drain well.
  10. 10. Add the drained okra pods to the pan with the onions.
  11. 11. Season the vegetables with salt and pepper.
  12. 12. Pour the broth over the vegetables in the pan.
  13. 13. Simmer the vegetables for about 7 minutes until they are cooked through.
  14. 14. Taste the dish at the end and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
  15. 15. Serve the vegetables as desired along with flatbread.
