🍽️ Crispy Oven Potatoes with Cheese and Onion Topping

Ingredients
- 8 medium-sized, waxy potatoes
- salt
- 3 spring onions
- pepper (from the mill)
- 100 g freshly grated cheese (e.g. Gouda)
Instructions
- 1. Wash the potatoes thoroughly under running water.
- 2. Bring a pot of water and salt to a boil.
- 3. Add the potatoes to the boiling water.
- 4. Cook the potatoes for 20 to 25 minutes until tender.
- 5. Turn on the oven and preheat it to 220 degrees Celsius with top and bottom heat.
- 6. Wash the spring onions under running water.
- 7. Remove the ends of the spring onions.
- 8. Slice the spring onions into thin rings.
- 9. Drain the cooking water from the potatoes.
- 10. Let the potatoes steam dry for a moment to release moisture.
- 11. Cut the potatoes in half through the center.
- 12. Grease a baking tray with butter.
- 13. Place the potato halves on the tray with the cut side facing up.
- 14. Season the potatoes lightly with salt and pepper.
- 15. Mix the onion rings with the cheese in a bowl.
- 16. Distribute the cheese and onion mixture evenly over the potatoes.
- 17. Place the tray into the preheated oven.
- 18. Bake the potatoes until the topping is golden brown and crispy.
- 19. Remove the tray from the oven.
- 20. Serve the potatoes immediately while hot.
- 21. Optionally serve herbed quark as a side dish.
