  1. 1. Preheat the oven to 150 degrees Celsius fan-assisted.
  2. 2. Whisk the egg whites together with the lemon juice in a bowl until stiff.
  3. 3. Slowly sprinkle the powdered sugar into the egg white mixture while stirring continuously.
  4. 4. Continue beating the mixture until it is glossy and firm.
  5. 5. Gently fold the hazelnuts into the mixture with a spoon.
  6. 6. Fill the nut mixture into a piping bag fitted with a large round nozzle.
  7. 7. Line a baking tray with baking paper.
  8. 8. Pipe walnut-sized mounds onto the prepared tray.
  9. 9. Place a single hazelnut on top of each mound as decoration.
  10. 10. Bake the macaroons in the preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes.
  11. 11. Carefully remove the finished macaroons from the tray.
  12. 12. Let them cool down completely.
