Ingredients
- 400 g flour
- 125 g sugar
- 125 g butter
- 2 small eggs
- 80 g honey
- 40 g raisins (finely chopped)
- 40 g dried fig (finely chopped)
- 65 g honey
- 10 g oranges (candied finely chopped)
- 10 g lemon zest (candied finely chopped)
- 100 g walnuts (finely chopped)
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- juice of one lemon
- 100 g powdered sugar
Instructions
- 1. Preheat your oven to 180 degrees Celsius. If your oven has a convection fan setting, turn it on.
- 2. Put flour, sugar, butter, eggs, and honey into a large bowl.
- 3. Work all the ingredients together by hand or with a mixer until you have a firm, smooth dough.
- 4. Roll the dough out very thinly on a floured work surface.
- 5. Use a round cookie cutter to cut out many small circles from the dough.
- 6. Mix the ingredients for the nut filling thoroughly in a small bowl.
- 7. Take a small amount of the filling and place it on one half of each dough circle.
- 8. Fold the empty half of the dough circle over the filling to create a half-moon shape.
- 9. Press the edges of the half-moons together firmly so that the filling cannot escape.
- 10. Place the pastries on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
- 11. Bake the half-moons in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes, until they are golden brown.
- 12. Take the baking sheet out of the oven and let the pastries cool down slightly until they are just lukewarm.
- 13. Whisk powdered sugar and lemon juice in a small bowl until you have a smooth glaze.
- 14. Brush the still lukewarm nut pastries with the lemon glaze.
- 15. Let the glaze dry completely in the air before serving the pastries.
