  4. 4. Peel the onion and cut it into fine cubes.
  5. 5. Sauté the onion cubes in the melted butter.
  6. 6. Add the wild rice to the pot and sauté it briefly.
  7. 7. Stir until the rice smells pleasantly nutty.
  8. 8. Pour in vegetable broth until the mixture has the consistency of a liquid porridge.
  9. 9. Bring the rice to a boil.
  10. 10. Reduce the heat and let the rice simmer until tender.
  11. 11. The cooking time is about 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the variety.
  12. 12. Stir in a little more broth occasionally if the mixture becomes too thick.
  13. 13. Add the raisins after about 10 minutes of cooking time.
