🍽️ Colorful Nut Yeast Braided Bread

Ingredients
- 8 eggs (and green Easter egg coloring)
- 0.5 tsp oil
- 500 g flour
- 1 cube yeast
- 100 g sugar
- 100 g butter
- 1 untreated orange
- 1 tsp anise powder
- 100 g chopped pistachio kernels
- 200 g chopped nuts
- 1 egg yolk
- 20 g sesame seeds
Instructions
- 1. Boil the five eggs in boiling water for five minutes.
- 2. Let the eggs cool down and color them as you like.
- 3. Lightly rub the colored eggs with a little oil so the color adheres better.
- 4. Sift the flour into a large bowl.
- 5. Make a well in the center of the flour.
- 6. Mix the yeast with six tablespoons of lukewarm water.
- 7. Pour the yeast mixture into the well.
- 8. Lightly dust the surface with flour.
- 9. Cover the bowl and let the dough rise in a warm place for thirty minutes.
- 10. Warm the butter slightly.
- 11. Add the warm butter, sugar, and three eggs to the pre-dough.
- 12. Knead the ingredients vigorously until you have a smooth dough.
- 13. Grate the orange peel finely.
- 14. Knead the orange peel and anise powder into the dough.
- 15. Shape the dough into a ball.
- 16. Cover the bowl and let the dough rise for one hour.
- 17. Grease a baking sheet with some fat.
- 18. Work the dough briefly on a floured surface.
- 19. Take one third of the dough off.
- 20. Divide the remaining dough into two equal parts.
- 21. Shape each of the three dough portions into a fifty-centimeter-long strand.
- 22. Roll out the three strands into ten-centimeter-wide rectangles.
- 23. Top the rectangles with nuts and pistachios.
- 24. Leave a small border of dough free.
- 25. Roll up the dough surfaces starting from the long sides.
- 26. Braid the three rolls together into a plait.
- 27. Place the plait on the prepared baking sheet.
- 28. Divide the remaining dough into two strands.
- 29. Shape these strands to the length of the main loaf.
- 30. Wrap the two strands around each other.
- 31. Press the wrapped strands against the sides of the plait.
- 32. Whisk the egg yolk with one tablespoon of water.
- 33. Brush the plait with the egg yolk mixture.
- 34. Sprinkle the plait with sesame seeds.
- 35. Let the plait rest for fifteen minutes.
- 36. Press five indentations into the center of the plait.
- 37. Place the colored eggs into the indentations.
- 38. Preheat the oven to one hundred eighty degrees.
- 39. Bake the plait in the oven for thirty-five minutes.
