  1. 1. Wash the red cabbage thoroughly and remove the hard core end.
  2. 2. Cut the cabbage into large wedges.
  3. 3. Brush a deep baking tray with oil.
  4. 4. Place the red cabbage wedges on the prepared tray.
  5. 5. Sprinkle walnuts evenly over the cabbage.
  6. 6. Distribute bay leaves and cinnamon sticks over the vegetables.
  7. 7. Peel the shallots and slice them into thin rings.
  8. 8. Place the shallot rings on top of the red cabbage.
  9. 9. Mix the broth with the vinegar and cranberries in a bowl.
  10. 10. Pour the liquid evenly over the cabbage.
  11. 11. Season the dish with salt and black pepper to taste.
  12. 12. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius conventional heat (or 160 degrees Celsius fan-forced).
  13. 13. Place the tray in the oven and bake the cabbage for about 40 minutes.
  14. 14. Take the tray out occasionally and pour some of the broth over the cabbage again and again.
