  6. 6. Place the cooled nuts together with the spices into the jars.
  7. 7. Put the sugar into a large pot.
  8. 8. Melt the sugar over low heat.
  9. 9. Deglaze the melted sugar with the red wine.
  10. 10. Let the mixture reduce slightly.
  11. 11. Check the consistency of the syrup.
  12. 12. The syrup should have a honey-like thickness.
  13. 13. Pour the warm syrup over the nuts in the jars.
  14. 14. Make sure the nuts are completely covered by the syrup.
  15. 15. Seal the jars tightly.
