  3. 3. Peel the skin off the tomatoes.
  4. 4. Quarter the tomatoes and remove the core.
  5. 5. Dice the tomatoes into small cubes.
  6. 6. Peel the onion and the garlic.
  7. 7. Chop the onion and garlic very finely.
  8. 8. Heat oil in a pot.
  9. 9. Fry the minced meat until crumbly, stirring occasionally.
  10. 10. Brown the meat slightly.
  11. 11. Add the diced onion and garlic to the meat.
  12. 12. Sauté the vegetables for 2 to 3 minutes.
  13. 13. Stir the tomato paste into the meat mixture.
  14. 14. Pour in the meat broth.
  15. 15. Season the sauce with salt, sugar, and pepper.
  16. 16. Stir the diced tomatoes into the sauce.
  17. 17. Let the sauce simmer for about 45 minutes with the lid slightly ajar.
  18. 18. Stir the sauce occasionally while cooking.
  19. 19. Add more broth if necessary.
  20. 20. Cook the macaroni in salted water al dente.
  21. 21. Taste the sauce one last time and adjust seasoning.
  22. 22. Add the drained pasta to the sauce.
  23. 23. Toss the pasta well in the sauce.
  24. 24. Fill the bowls with the pasta.
  25. 25. Sprinkle the pasta with fresh basil.
  26. 26. Grate Parmesan cheese over the top if desired.
