🍽️ Crispy Yeast Dough Cubes

Ingredients
- 500 g Spelt flour Type 1050 (+ some flour for working)
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 1 packet dry yeast
- 250 ml milk (3.5% fat)
- 100 g melted ghee
- 1 egg
- 70 g whole cane sugar
- 1 pinch vanilla powder
- 0.5 lemon (juice)
- 400 g plant-based frying oil
- 30 g powdered sugar from cane sugar
Instructions
- 1. Put the flour, salt, and dry yeast into a large bowl.
- 2. Set the bowl with the flour mixture aside.
- 3. Take a second bowl.
- 4. Whisk the milk, ghee, egg, whole cane sugar, vanilla powder, and lemon juice in this second bowl.
- 5. Add the prepared flour mixture to the liquid mixture.
- 6. Knead everything well for about 5 minutes.
- 7. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour.
- 8. Cover the dough.
- 9. Let the dough rise in a warm place for at least 30 minutes.
- 10. Dust a work surface with flour.
- 11. Roll out the dough on the floured surface to a thickness of about 1 cm.
- 12. Cut small squares with a side length of 2 cm from the dough sheet using a large knife.
- 13. Put oil in a pot.
- 14. Heat the oil to 170 degrees Celsius.
- 15. Fry the dough pieces in the hot fat for 1 to 2 minutes until golden brown.
- 16. Lift the finished Mutzen out of the fat with a slotted spoon.
- 17. Let the excess fat drip off on kitchen paper.
- 18. Let the Mutzen cool down briefly.
- 19. Dust the cooled Mutzen with powdered sugar.
- 20. Serve the Mutzen.
